Using a sunroof not only provides a comfortable temperature - but even more importantly - fresh air that keeps you alert while driving.
Studies on the interior climate in vehicles were conducted by the University of Siena and IVM Engineering on behalf of Webasto. The scientists in Siena conducted a medical review and examined the effects on the well-being of the passengers of different ventilation/air conditioning options. The results were then compiled and assessed by the staff of IVM Engineering. By means of computer-aided, numerical measurements, the effects of different positions of a sliding sunroof on the exchange, circulation and temperature of the air inside the vehicle were collected.
The opening the side-windows as well as operating the ventilation / A/C-system is not the best solution for the climate inside the vehicle. A combination of a sunroof and a ventilation / A/C-system provides a good interior climate and therefore has the best effects on the alertness and reactivity of the driver and therefore has to be regarded as an active contribution for safer vehicle operation on the roads.
